I was watching the q&a session with Rick McCallum on Starwars.com Hyperspace (it is still going on as we speak, I just have to do something else) and this question was asked...
"Will we get to see an epic space battle in Episode III like that of the attack on the Death Stars in Episode's IV and VI?"

This response came straight from Rick...
"Yes, right at the beginning of the movie"

He also said that it is possibly true about what Peter Mayhew was quoted as saying in regards to Chewbacca.

If anything else of interest comes up I will be sure to post it tomorrow or something.

Just in from Mr. McCallum...
"Will there be any new bad guys in this film of great importance, or will it simply be Dooku, Sidous and Vader?"

Rick...
"Yes, expect someone serious."

He was asked if Mace goes to the darkside and he said he can't comment. Wonder if there is any connection.

Also,
Here's what he said about new planets...
"We'll see a lot of new worlds."

and here's what he said about Hayden's new size in relation to how much hes been working out...
"his arms are the size of my thighs... and my thighs are huge. "

He also said David Prowse will not be Darth Vader so I guess that means that Hayden is in.

Hayden IS getting huge. I remember thinking that the make-up they had on him in AotC was cheezy, but seeing pictures of him later, I can see why it was a good idea.

The real Hayden is naturally VERY pale, and Sith-like... I saw a picture of him a few months ago after he had been training for awhile, and thinking "WOW! He's getting HUGE..."...

But not only that, his pale features, dark circles under his eyes, etc... all make him look like the tormented Anakin/Vader we will be seeing in Episode III.

I have to think that that is the reason Lucas originally casted him in this role. Without that tanning makeup on, he's going to be perfect for the role.

Oh, and about his acting: At times, you could tell he was inexperienced in AotC, but his potential really shone through in other scenes... I bet he gives a much better performance in Episode III with three years experience under his belt!

Damn... am I his own personal cheerleader Embarassed ?

Damn....a ripped Jedi. Can you imagine him just ripping off his cloak and there he is bare chested, muscles heaving, 24" pythons wrapped around a lightsaber ready to kick ass?

Neither can I.....but it's nice that he is bulking up non-the-less.

"Whatcha gonna do, when Anakin Skywalker and the dark side run wild on you!!"

Filthy is right about Hayden's acting ... I thought that look on his face after Shmi dies was powerful as was his emotional breakdown afterward with Padme. The love scenes missing something ( though they weren't as bad as I have said before ) and I hope that is where he improves. If the dialog doesnt get better ... then Hayden has got to flex muscles other than his pecs to carry the movie to greatness.

I still have hope.

This topic, more than anything, brings high hopes for ep III. I always thought Hayden tried too much in ep II cause in some scenes, he wsa very good. I agree with all of you, but what I don't like is that Rick is already answering stuff...about Mace being bad, it would be a good twist I guess...
About many planets seen, I mentioned an idea in another topic that we might see the Empire conquering many systems, so there you go, an easy way to show many planets!!!!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaah great, I just remembered I still have to wait 2 years... Mad

UPDATE:

In today's daily journal Pablo Heyman explains how they are doing the makeup for Kit Fisto. He says that Kit will need a live stunt double this time. I guess he means that something happens to Kit when he is killed that would require a double (basing this off the assumption that all the jedi besides Obi and Yoda die in Ep 3). The live stunt double is needed because they are going to be doing some kind of closeup during the dangerous sequence which could not be done with a digital double.

If this is true then I wonder why Chewie was really laughing after the Luke/Liea kiss in ESB. Laughing

UPDATE:
George Lucas arrives in Sydney on Monday. He will be doing set walkthroughs all next week and then shooting will begin the following week. Hayden is having his official make up test done Monday. The walls in Palpatine's office are now red just like in Episode 2. Padme's apartment is done and now they are working on building the bridge of a starship. That's all the new info tonight except for some new pictures they put up of Darth Maul doing stunts in Episode 1 and a new photo of Mark Hamill on wires being lowered into the bacta tank for the scene in Empire. Be back later with more updates...

ANOTHER UPDATE:

They did a mold of Ewan's head in the art deparment today. He walks up to the webcam and sticks his face right in it. If you have hyperspace you can see it on the webcam at June 13th 17:07 and 40 seconds. Hes got the beard and everything ready to go. (at least I think it is him, but it may be a picture someone just stuck in front of the camera. Either way its pretty cool)

It makes sense somewhat that Obi Wan and Chewie know each other. Think about the whole scum and villainy speech in Episode 4 and then match that with Obi Wan's meeting with the drug dealer in Episode 2. Obviously Obi Wan thinks very little of users and or dealers. Add in the implications that Han Solo is a drug smuggler...Perhaps, Obi Wan used a jedi mind trick to get Han Solo to agree to take them to Alderaan.

I don't know, thinking about it all now... it seems a bit farfetched to have Obi and Chewie know each other.

I agree with you Myth. Chewie, as far as I know, will only "appear" in ep III, he won't have a major role. I say again; we'll see him in a scene with the Empire conquering planets....that's my humble opinion Cool

UPDATE:
An excerpt from the daily diary...
Today, Ewan McGregor continues his hair and makeup tests as well. "I gave him a haircut and styled his hair, moving a bit more towards a younger version of Alec Guinness," explains Annette. "Ewan will have his own hair, but I'm just now making some temple pieces, and they will be graying. It went very well. He was in good form, and he was happy with the haircut. We've got four months, so he'll probably have at least four haircuts, minimum, in that time."

"We tooled his beard right back so we can give him more of an interesting shape to his face, rather than a big bushy beard," says Makeup Supervisor Nikki Gooley. "We did some sculpting to the sides, and we have more manicuring to the goatee shape, so it's slightly thicker than the rest of his beard to give him an Alec Guinness-look. I'm training him to shave for himself. I've given him some wax, and he's going to be sort of pulling it out and shaping his moustache every day to train it to grow in certain directions."

Yesterday, Hayden Christensen underwent similar hair and makeup tests. For Episode III, he won't have the fresh-faced young Padawan look. Rather, we'll see what fighting in the Clone Wars for years has done to the Chosen One. "He looks quite rugged and weathered," says Annette. "He's going to look like he's been around the track a bit."

Sounds good to me Smile

UPDATE:
Genevieve O'Reilly has officially been cast as Mon Mothma for Episode 3. Also, our favorite little astromech droid R2D2 arrived in Sydney today. Supposedly on the webcam you could see them unpacking a gold C3PO costume. I will have to search today's webacm images and see if thats true or not. Finally, Plo Koon is scripted to finally say something in Episode 3 and he has "a brief appearance in Episode III, but the script requires very specific actions for him." Hearing all this stuff makes me so excited for Ep 3 Cool

*Yes I found the pictures of the gold C3PO outfit and there is also a picture of that droid from ANH that blows up when Luke and Owen buy it. Wonder what it is doing onset...*

UPDATE:
Ok they posted a transcript of the Rick McCallum web chat the other night. It it ridiculously long and contains spoilers aplenty. Be warned if you don't want to be spoiled...

MovieJustice: Is there a somberness felt at the end of each phase of the production so far, seeing as how this is the last time a Star Wars film will be made? And have any of the individuals working on the films expressed that they wished the stories would continue further? Would you like them to?
Rick McCallum: To tell you the truth, there isn't a somberness. We're too flat out to be sad. There's no one working on the film who wouldn't ########## continue forever.

ray martinez: After reading the script, how long do you think the movie will be?
Rick McCallum: I wish I had a script!!

Boshuda UK: Which is your favorite Star Wars film and why?
Rick McCallum: Empire is still my favorite film. Dramatically, nothing beats finding out who Luke's father is.

SWUnion: On which locations besides Sydney will Episode III be shot?
Rick McCallum: For principal photography we're shooting everything in Syndey. For pickups next year we may extend to Europe.

Quest for Truth7: During a typical day, what do you do? What do you spend the most time doing for the most part?
Rick McCallum: Trying to keep everything moving. There are a million things to do, as you can imagine on a film this size. Making sure that sure that every task is complete.

Jango 38: How long will it take to film the movie?
Rick McCallum: It takes 12 weeks to film a movie.

rburn465/OBIX1: What is the actual date that footage will begin to be shot in Australia?
Rick McCallum: June 30.

Lady Padme Skywalker: Will Episode III be longer time-wise than the other Episodes, since it's the last film?
Rick McCallum: It should be about the same length... 2 hours.

fuzzsta: The Star Wars DVDs are a fantastic insight into the film-making process, and you mentioned somewhere that you wanted them to be a means for people who can't otherwise learn about film-making to do so, also recommending that the buy a few products from Apple and start messing around creatively, which is quite accessible, however things such as computer animation are still a little beyond 'consumer level'. Having done some amateur 'messing around' and gaining some production experience working on personal projects, what do you recommend one should do to get further involved in the process/industry?
Rick McCallum: The only advice I can give you is to write your own story and go out and film it.

Wolfrecon190: Do you have someone following you and Mr. Lucas (or George?) around, filming footage for the "Making of Episode III" section of the DVD? Also, have you attended Star Wars Weekends at the Disney-MGM Studios?
Rick McCallum: Yes, we've had a documentary crew working for the last year and they'll continue to film all of us until the end of post production. I've never attended a Star Wars weekend, but maybe next year!

SonofGondor: What are the chances of Peter Jackson taking over directing reins for Episode III?
Rick McCallum: Give me a break.

Lord Iron Lung: Have you ever had to pick up a hammer and help finish the building of a set?
Rick McCallum: No, but I've picked up a hammer to threaten to make sure that the set is built on time. A chainsaw is my preferred management tool.

D_Pendo: Have you seen The Matrix Reloaded yet? What did you think of it?
Rick McCallum: Oh? Has that come out yet?

SonofGondor : Will the look of the third prequel be closer to that of the original films?
Rick McCallum: Most definitely.

FORCEBLADER: Have you read any of the EU books, if so, wich one do like the best?
Rick McCallum: I have read some of the earlier ones. The first books by Zahn were quite good.

D_Pendo: Before you became the Producer on the Special Editions, were you a fan of the original movies?
Rick McCallum: Of course. They were brilliant.

Eddie Vedder 03: How much are the stars paid to be in these films?
Rick McCallum: Hey, it's me! Not a lot... or at least up front.

Wolfrecon190: Do you feel the audience will sympathize more with Anakin or Obiwan? P.S. We would love to watch a three hour Star Wars movie! Even four hours!
Rick McCallum: I think the drama comes from the fact that you will sympathize with both of them.

JediGirl52: Have you ever played with some of the set props?
Rick McCallum: When no one else is looking, yes!

JaZsaBink: If you could be any Alien species in the SW Universe, which would you be? (That's my Barbara Walters-esque question)
Rick McCallum: I'd be Jabba the Hutt because we have the closest resemblance.

Holscope.com: What are you going to do after you finish this gig?
Rick McCallum: Cry.

OBIX1: When is the first day of shooting for episode 3?
Rick McCallum: Too early to tell.
COME ON GUYS LET'S GET SOME HARD QUESTIONS!!

Sidious68: Hard questions, eh? Does Padme die in Ep III? Is Palapatine really Sidious? Will we get to see Vader in full black armor?
Rick McCallum: Earth to Sidious68. What planet are you from?

Youngling62: You want hard? Okay, here goes: Who is Anakin's father?
Rick McCallum: Don't tell anyone. I am!
Oh... that's a good one.
Come on guys! Where are the easy questions?!?

Mictateur : I was just thinking... You said in Ask Jedi Council that a part of your body appears in Episode II... I think no one has found it ! So, could you reveal us what was it and where did this appear in the movie ? Thanks a lot !
Rick McCallum: The only thing George would allow is my elbow... possibly in the asteroid. The only non-offensive part of my body! Plus, we wanted to keep the PG rating.

DruDaMan: Will this movie contain more or less saber action than your typical Star Wars film, and could you address any rumors of a possible multi-level battle (saber, land, space) like in Episode I or VI?
Rick McCallum: Ep III definitively has the most lightsaber action of any Star Wars film.

Itto0gami: Can you tell us if will we see any battles in Episode 3 on the same scale as the Clone War battle in Attack of the Clones?
Rick McCallum: The battles will be on an even larger scale.

Not_Applicable: Recently Hayden mentioned that Episode III would take place 10 years after AOTC, contrary to what you and others have stated in the past. Could you clarify this matter for inquiring minds?
Rick McCallum: Love your screen name! Hayden's wrong. It'll take place 3 years or so after Ep II.

Not_Applicable: I'll forever cherish your kind words about my screen name! Here's a tough one: Does Leia spend more time with Padmé than Luke?
Rick McCallum: Man, you're good! (Luke/Leia spending more time with Padme.) I honestly can't answer that yet.

JediHPDrummer: It looks like you guys conquered the big challenges in visual effects. In Episode I it was how to make a movie like this. Episode II it was Yoda. Will Episode III have some sort of new challenge, or are you guys comfortable? Of course, effects will be better, but is there a giant challenge this time?
Rick McCallum: Everything on this film is a bigger challenge than anything we've done before.

Jedi Power - Galactic Voyage: Will we get to see an epic space battle in Episode III like that of the attack on the Death Stars in Episodes IV and VI?
Rick McCallum: Yes, right at the beginning of the movie.

Jango 19999: Many Star Wars fans have said that you have told mistruths or that you are sometimes misinformed about upcoming films to throw us off. is this at all true?
Rick McCallum: I want the names of everyone who said that sent to me immediately and the examples and what the #### they're talking about.

Muftak: Rick, will we ever get to see Mace Windu in a lightsaber duel with a Sith lord?
Rick McCallum: Possibly.........................

Darth _Walken: Does George have any plans to shoot more footage for insertion into the original trilogy, during the shooting of Episode III ?
Rick McCallum: It would be rude of me to speak on George's behalf.

Padmé Starkiller: Is Episode III going to have a fake title like ROTJ...and what is the name of it?
Rick McCallum: We always have a working title. George probably knows the title, but he won't tell me.

JediNicky8: If it were up to you, what would the title of Episode III be?
Rick McCallum: It'd be "Episode III: I'm Soon Out of a Job"

KaneStarkiller1138: The prequel trilogy has been a bit shy of killing characters on screen. Will we see some nice glorious deaths in Episode III?
Rick McCallum: Absolutely. None of these whimpy fights with droids. We wanna see some action!

Darth _Walken: Have you ever got drunk on set ?
Rick McCallum: The better question is, have I ever been sober?

Lord Iron Lung: How is Christopher Lee doing? A lot of us fans have been concerned with his health.
Rick McCallum: Christopher is doing great. I just spoke to him in London. He's off to do pickups for LOTR and then he'll join us. He's in great shape! If only we could all be like him at 81.

JediGirl52: Do you think there should be Episode 7-9, or should the two trilogies be left at what they are?
Rick McCallum: Personally, I prefer the 6 movies to be left as they are as a finished story. For the sake of the fans, I hope there's ways to enjoy Star Wars in the future. It will be a sad day for all of us when this one is finally done.

DarthRyan01: How often do you talk to George?
Rick McCallum: Every day by video conference.

Bobbywan 74: Will we see NEW Main Character Ship designs in this Episode? Like maybe a Sith ship?
Rick McCallum: You'll see a lot of new ship designs. Too early to tell about a Sith ship.

BlueMilk Run: I was wondering if the jarring difference between the visual starkness of the Original Trilogy vs. the visual opalence of the Prequels was done to show the effects of war before and after, or if it was done simply because you had the budget and the technology to go all out? =)
Rick McCallum: The real issue is that by the time we see the galaxy in Ep IV, it's been at war for years and nothing is dramatically changed... kind of like Cuba is now. They're beleagered after fighting. Everything is stopped.

Brother_Jacopus: Will actors like David Prowse and Warwick Davis be contacted for roles in Ep III?
Rick McCallum: No

Youngling62: Can you really tell a difference in Hayden's size yet?
Rick McCallum: Yes... his arms are the size of my thighs... and my thighs are huge.

DarthBubbleButt: When Ewan McGregor arrives on set in a few days, are you are George going to have a talk with him about all the negative things he's said in the press about the prequels?
Rick McCallum: No... you should hear what he says about his last movie.

DarthBubbleButt: What is the worst cuss word you've ever heard come out of George's mouth?
(and who was it directed at?)
Rick McCallum: "Damn you, you horrible little rodent!" and it was directed at me.

Wicket W Warrick: Which will be the exact release date of Episode III?
Rick McCallum: We don't have an exact date, likely May 2005.

obiglennkenobi: Will we see any new worlds -- for instance Alderaan?
Rick McCallum: We'll see a <i>lot</i> of new worlds.

Darth Ryan 01: Isn't being part of the Star Wars movies the greatest job in the world?
Rick McCallum: You bet! I can't believe I'm getting paid for this.

Repoort © Alleged Criminal: Lucas said himself that he wishes he could experience his movies like us fans do. Is it the same for you? Do you get all hyped up?
Rick McCallum: What hypes me up is seeing the film with fans. It's a knife in your heart when everyone groans and the most sublime pleasure whenever they cheer.

Makabe: Will Ewan McGregor grow back his beard for all the sessions of additional photography, or wear a prosthetic beard as he appears to have done for some scenes in Episode II?
Rick McCallum: Ewan's beard is fully grown.

UCFKevin: Since N*Sync wasn't in AOTC, what are the chances we could see them in Episode III? They could do a song for the movie! "Wanna B Ur Jedi 4Ever!"
Rick McCallum: Over my fat, dead body.

Tusken_Raiders: Will there be scenes of Anakin doing evil things, a la the Tusken slaughter of Ep II?
Rick McCallum: Absolutely.

GMAN737: Will Anakin/Vader VS Obi-Wan be THE duel of the Saga? NOHOLDSBARRED!!!!
Rick McCallum: I can honestly say with no misleading reservation... yes. It will be awesome.

FernWithy: Will we see buffed up Hayden shirtless again?
Rick McCallum: Hopefully, yes.

DarkJediSpizer: Will we see the emperor or Anakin make use of the darkside of the force...ex..lightning or chokes??
Rick McCallum: Yes, and even more.

DarthRyan01: Who's your favorite actor from the cast? And who is the most complicated to deal with?
Rick McCallum: I'll answer that in 3 months time.

DarthBubbleButt: Is Jar Jar's role larger or smaller than in Episode II?
Rick McCallum: Jar Jar's role is smaller than Ep II. May I please have permission to use your screen name as my personal call sign?

DarthBubbleButt: Rick, you can use my signature if you'll let me buy you a cold one next time I'm at the Ranch (after shooting is finished, of course). Will I be able to take my 3-year-old daughter to Episode III? If so, will I have to cover her eyes the whole time?
Rick McCallum: Thanks for that. Personally, I don't think I'd let a 3-year-old see it. It's probably too intense. Maybe when she's a little older.

Glass Psyche: I've noticed some of the animatics of Star Wars can be noticable as computer generated (however, after the DVD stuff, I've been surprised at some of what exactly was computer generated). What's being done to make things more real? Are you guys leaning more towards puppets, less computers, thus making the transition from our modern technology to the late 70's early 80's seem smoother?
Rick McCallum: It's an interesting question. We try to use whatever is the most cost-efficient and effective way to communicate. Sometimes it's easier with puppets. Sometimes it's easier to do it as a CG character.

John Kimble: How long did it take ILM to complete "Star Wars Kid"?
Rick McCallum: No special effects technology exists that would make something so realistic.

Darth _Walken: Are there any beautiful girls in this movie, and if so, will you be casting them (like you did for the nightclub scene in AOTC ) ?
Rick McCallum: Yes, there are beautiful girls. Yes, I will. The Dark Side comes so easy to me.

Not_Applicable: Vaunted Bringer of Spoilers: Any chance of seeing you on the webcam soon? Your adoring public awaits!
Rick McCallum: Sadly, the webcam doesn't have a wide enough angle lens yet to have me on.

UCFKevin: Screw Star Wars! What's the deal with Howard the Duck II: Howard Lives? I need to see that little duck making out with Leah Thompson again. I need to!
Rick McCallum: On Howard...just got the newest script! It's terrible!

DarthRyan01: Will you have anything to do with Indiana Jones IV?
Rick McCallum: No, that's being made next year. I'll be too busy with Star Wars.

dambusterjedi: Will there be a cameo role for "Star Wars Kid"? That would be the best compliment.
Rick McCallum: I doubt we could afford the "Star Wars Kid" now!

alec9922: You rock, Mr. McCallum....thanks for taking this time with us--- Is there any chance we will see the clone troopers' transformation into stormtroopers and why there is that uniform change?
Rick McCallum: You can expect a lot of great changes like this.

JediHPDrummer: Have you tryed out the new digital camera? How much better is it than the one using in Ep II? Is it clearer and are you guys pushing again for theaters to convert to digital?
Rick McCallum: The new camera rocks! It's unbelieveable the improvements.

Makabe: How will the voice of Chewbacca be handled, since the bear who provided the original voice has died?
Rick McCallum: Ben Burtt will likely do open-bear casting call.

obiglennkenobi: How soon til you go back to work, Rick?
Rick McCallum: My assistant keeps calling me, but this is much more fun.

Brother_Jacopus: Since Anakin is getting beefed up and Padme is getting rotund, will there be any noticable physical changes to the likes of Palpatine and Obi-Wan?
Rick McCallum: All the characters are moving to the way we first met them.

UCFKevin: Thanks for joining us tonight, Rick. You're alright in my book, mamajama. If a cereal called "Bantha Poodoo" was released, would you eat it?
Rick McCallum: Only if it changed the color of the milk.

UCFKevin: Hey Rick! You're a good man. Will Episode III discuss the midi-chlorians at all, or will they be ignored like that drunk uncle at the Christmas party? Discuss.
Rick McCallum: Wait a minute? They ignore me at the Christmas party?

Jedi_Kahn :
1. Will Mace turn to the Dark Side?
2. I didn't see Adi Gallia's name in the Ep III databank, though I also didn't see it in the rejected Jedi article, so is she in the movie?
3. How do you feel about people saying Boba will kill Mace?
Rick McCallum:
1. Can't answer.
2. Can't answer.
3. Can't answer.

theCapn: You gonna let Sam Jackson swear a bit in this one? 'twould be cool...
Rick McCallum: No one "lets" Sam do anything.

cg-realms: Hey, in light of all the nonsense about a bunch of Lucasfilm people quitting over not liking the direction Ep III was going started by certain websites, could you just tell us whether Ben Burtt's still on as Sound Designer?
Thanks, much appreciated!
Rick McCallum: Ben Burrt will be back as Sound Designer.

Floating Goatee: Will there be any new bad guys in this film of great importance, or will it simply be Dooku, Sidous and Vader?
Rick McCallum: Yes, expect someone serious.

Lord Iron Lung: What do you think about the people who wrote in "Jedi" as their religion in the Australian Census?
Rick McCallum: That's why I love being in Australia.

Muftak: Does George mainly side with Anakin or Obi-Wan in their struggle with each other? How about you? Do you like Obi-Wan better? Is he gonna come off as a really cool, wise, and powerful Jedi in Episode III? How would you describe his character in this film?
Rick McCallum: If I had to guess, George would probably side with Obi-Wan. Of course, I side with Anakin.

Makabe: Episode I and II both featured only one scene between Anakin and Palpatine, and in both cases the scene was added in post-production. In this film, can we count on more interaction between the two of them?
Rick McCallum: Yes, you can.

obiglennkenobi: Hey Rick, thanx for taking time out today to spend and chat with this happy Star Wars fan! I took a sickie off work to catch you! My question is how is working here in "the lucky country"Australia compared to working in the States or other locations for filming?
Rick McCallum: Oz is the easiest and coolest place and laid back place in the English language.

USCFKevin: When all the flicks are done, will there be a gigantic DVD set that all us sheep will have to flock to Best Buy or Circuit City to purchase?
Rick McCallum: Of course, there will be a 6 DVD set some day... how else am I going to send my kids to college.

pruette21: Will any new characters from the Clone Wars cartoon shorts appear in Episode III?
Rick McCallum: Yes

Mace-Windoo: Do you think Epiosde III will be the best movie of them all?
Rick McCallum: Yes

Lord Iron Lung: Is Scott Glenn going to be in the film?
Rick McCallum: Definitely not.

Repoort Enolc © Untouchable: Now that you've answered all these questions, do you regret it? And will you ever do it again?
Rick McCallum: Not at all. I hope to be here every 2-3 weeks.

Rick McCallum: Hey guys - believe it or not, I guess I actually have a job to do here, so I need to take off. I'll be back in a couple of weeks. See you then!

Umm I highly doubt we will see them making out anymore in Ep3 than we did in Ep 2.

UPDATE:

Big update today. Today on the webcam they were showing lightsaber practice. I believe it was Count Dooku's stunt double and some guy I've never seen before. The guy I've never seen before is fighting with a double bladed saber. There are also shots of a 3 way saber fight and even a 4 way saber fight. There is no explanation on the webcam as to what these are, so we are free to speculate. Wish I could post some pictures, but thats a BIG no no...

Hmmm a 4-way battle. Seems interesting along with the speculation of another double-bladed lightsaber user.

*Spoilers* (i just want to make sure its known*
How about they kiss, then a lightsaber is heard, and Anakin kills her and fully goes to the dark side? Ehh I just want to see Padme more.....Why does she have to die!? Crying or Very sad

Luthos: That's a terrible way for padme to die. IF she dies at all.

UPDATE:
A couple of tidbits today. Palpatine's blue and red guards will be back for Ep 3. They did fittings today for Neimoidian pilots. Wether or not these are fighter pilots (for the opening battle of the movie) remains to be seen. Also, on the webcam they had Hayden and Ewan doing lightsaber practice today. Ewan had a green practice saber and Hayden had red. It was sweet seeing Hayden weild the red saber. It was also apparent that he as buffed up a lot. He looked huge.

READ BETWEEN THE LINES UPDATE:

ILM is now in the studio. In the set diary the writer mentioned seeing John Knoll and Rob Coleman standing inside a "Classic Trilogy" set that is NOW completed. There is no mention on what set this is but the last thing that is mentioned is that standing there is likened to being on the Lars Homestead in EP II.

Hmmmm.

SET DIARY UPDATE: June 25th, 2003

Today they concentrated on camera testing on the set that will be Padme's Apartment in EP III. Also They had Ewan and Hayden fully decked out in Jedi wear. The made a mention that this will be only one of Anakins outfits in EP III and he will have at least one other look which they called his "dirty" look.

^ Agreed. I think Hyperspace will pay off after filming starts. Right now $20.00 annually is fine ... but if I want to see an intern eating a hamburger then I'll just go to work.

Bail Ling is being officially cast as a Senator not Ventress as I mentioned earlier.

There is a gent who was cast to play a starship captian. He was cast with an OT character in mind. A picture will be forthcoming ... Wink

Cool. This means there is a strong chance Thrawn will be the EU villain.

Mike the Hutt is correct, Thrawn is not an OT character.

Here is the link for the casting updates its not Hyperspace info so posting the pictures would be redundant.

http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/bts/production/news20030626.html

Rohan Nichol is the character cast as the starship captian who is supposed to bear a resemblence to an OT character. I think he may end up playing Captian Antilles or Han's father if he is going to be more than just an extra ... I don't get why they would make the comment about his resemblence to an OT character if there wasn't a connection.

Hmmm ... Maybe a family connection to Wedge.

I said EU, not OT.

They will be adding an EU character to Episode III, and will have a new villain. That means it could be Thrawn (two birds with one stone), though I suppose it could be a young Tarkin as well.

GIGANTIC SPOILER TODAY

On the webcame for June 30 at 17:41:20 (for those of you w/hyperspace) they have the first shot of film made available to the public. It is none other than what looks to be a young Darth Vader. It is Hayden dressed in all black, w/a black cape, and a black glove covering his mechanized hand. He is pointing at something off screen and making a motion like "come here." Wow Episode 3 looks cool already!!!!!!!!

UPDATE:
They had another Q&A session with Gavin Bocquet, head of the production department.

Following are some of the questions and his answers...

Will there be Jedi Starfighters in Episode: 3? If so, will they be equipped with weapons? And will they fight in any battles?

We are building a new starfighter for Anakin and Obi-Wan, and a new fighter for the rest of the Jedi. And they will have weapons, and they will fight in big battles.

Gavin,

Will we be seeing any sets with Imperial implications in Episode III?

Yes. Seeing and building. But I can't say anymore.

Hi mister Gavin Bocquet!

In your experience with fan reactions to long awaited moments, such as the cheering that is heard in movie theaters when Yoda drew out his lightsaber, do you think that there will be a particular locale in Ep. III that will leave us talking for weeks.

Yes. And probably more than one. But my lips are sealed!

will we get to see any original triogy planets like bespin or dagobah in episode 3?
Yes. We will see a number of sets and environments from the original trilogy, and from Episodes I and II.

will we get to see any OT starships.

Yes, but again, I can't tell you anymore than that. Otherwise, Rick will get the chainsaw out on me.

Gavin,

Will the sets and vehicles in Episode III start to get that "used" look and feel like in the Original Trilogy movies?

Generally, because we are returning to some of the previous environments sometimes the feel will return to that of the original trilogy. But in other instances, it will look very different indeed!

It has been said that Episode III will have a 'darker' feel. How do the sets reflect this? Will we see stark contrasts of color as in the Empire Strikes Back, and how will the overall tone reflect the feel of earlier filmmaking periods (the 1930's-1940's)?

Yes, generally, some of the environments are moving back towards are more dark, monochrome look as the story moves towards Episode IV. But other sets and environments move off in completely different directions visually.

There you go just some general Q&A. There was a lot more but I just cut the ones I felt you guys would be most interested in reading. Laterz.

UPDATE:

This is from TheForce.net but I verified it and it is true.

July 2, 18:29:20 to 18:32:00, on the webcam, you can see Dooku's lightsaber handle, Obi-Wan's (both PT and CT), and also, get this, Luke's from ANH & ESB, the one which according to Obi-Wan, Luke's father wanted him to have when he is old enough." There's also another one with a bit of gold on it that I can't recognize. Could be Mace's or a new but important one.
You can also see close-ups of three of the above mentioned saber handles from 18:10:20 to 18:10:40.

UPDATE:

They had a Q&A session with Rob Coleman, lead animator. Tomorrow is another w/Rick McCallum. Rob mostly talked about boring animation stuff but he did drop these couple of comments...

I assume you know most of what is going to happen in Episode III. Is there anything that gave you goosebumps?

RC: The last three pages gave me goosebumps.

As a Star Wars fan has there been a sequence (besides the Yoda duel) that makes you think "this is what I always wanted to see in the prequels"

RC: Yes, and it's in Episode III

Tomorrow's chat w/Rick should be more interesting.

HEHE thanks guys Smile There hasn't really been anything new to report the last few days, but I can assure you that I am keeping an eye out. That drawing is pretty accurate from what I've seen on the webcam. According to Ol George that is THE scene where everything is laid out and explained. Can't wait to see it on the silver screen.

SPOILER UPDATE!

The following is from the interview with Nick Gillard, mr lightsaber himself.

Q: We know that the saber duel between Anakin and Kenobi is going to be epic, but I think a lot of fans would also like it to be the LONGEST saber duel of the saga. What should we expect? Much thanks.

A: Expect exactly that.

Q: Sam Jackson has said that he doesn?t want Mace Windu to ?go out like a punk? when he dies in Episode III. Will he have a fitting saber fight to showcase his death?

A: He's gonna go out like a Viking in a blaze of glory.

Q: Hi Nick ! I was most impressed with the lightsabre duel in The Phantom Menace, especially with Obi Wan vs Darth Maul. Will we be seeing anything of that kind of speed and intensity in Episode III ?

A: Yes. There are many fights of that intensity in this film.

Q: Hi, Nick! Good to talk to you! Are we going to see new combat styles in Episode III?

A: Yes, there are. We're going to go through the whole gambit of style, and we're going to deconstruct the whole Jedi style.

Q: Nick, Will we see some saber fights in Episode III that will top Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul from Episode I? (Yoda vs. Dooku was fun but a little too CG for my tastes.)

A:No question.

Q: Thanks for taking the time to chat with us, Mr. Gillard. Amazing work on both prequels so far! Can you tell us anything about the tall individuals we saw on the webcam who were practicing with staves?

A: I can tell you that they're not Wookiees and they're not Imperial guards.

Q: I loved Anikan's fighting style in AOTC. Was your expertise required more in this film than in the previous two. (AKA will there be more sabering in Episode III) Thanks

A: Hayden's been with me for the last ten weeks, so you can expect something special.

Q: Hey, Nick! Huge fan of your work! I was just curious: In Episode III will we be seeing any characters fight with a lightsaber that we haven't seen fight before? If so, can we expect any new and interesting styles from them?

A: In short, yes.

Q:Howdy Nick. Thanks for doing this. In terms of LENGTH, will the epic duel between Anakin and Obi be just that, an epic?

A: It will make Ben Hur look like a short film.

Q: Will there be any limbs lost by lightsaber in this film?

A:
Yes, many limbs will be lost.

Q: Do you choreograph every specific movement and step in a fight scene, or do you sometimes let the actors "sword improvise" some movements?

A: Yes, I do. No, I don't let them improvise. Further, I FORCE them to do it my way.

Q: Nick, are the new graphite Saber Props going to make it easier to coreograph more moves within a sequence, or does it not make a difference? I was curious when I read this in the Web Diary.

A: After six years, we've finally found the right material and it makes it a lot easier. It's faster, lighter

Q: What's your favourite duel out of all the Star Wars movies?

A: The next one.

Q: At anytime while coming up with the choreography for the duels, were you ever inspired by the Matrix movies?

A: No.

Q:Ok clear this one up... Does Sam really have BMF engraved in his lightsaber?

A: Let's put it this way. He does have something engraved on his lightsaber, but it's a whole lot worse than that.

Q: Did the fighting styles of the "old" Obi-Wan and Darth Vader influence the "young" versions in the Prequels?

A: When I took over, we're seeing these characters at a different time in their lives, so I have more license. I could push the boundaries further.

Q: Are you incorperating Alec Guinness's fighting style from A New Hope for Ewan?

A: Yes, in a sort of homage.
